What are the criteria for a 5-star campsite?
Among all the criteria eligible for 5-star status, there are a number of special features:
- Quality services (massage, hairdresser, spa, hotel services, etc.).
- Compulsory swimming area (can be a swimming pool or water park as well as direct access to the sea or lake)
- Food on site or nearby.
- Entertainment for all (and sometimes great shows) and mini-club for children with friendly staff, children's play areas, for the enjoyment of children and parents alike.
- Pitches must be at least 80 m² in size (the average minimum size for a 5-star campsite is 114 m² per pitch), with a maximum of 70 pitches per hectare.
- 50% of pitches must have an electrical connection of at least 10 amps.
- Heated toilets and showers.
- Comfort facilities (washing machine, etc.).
- Internet access on the campsite and extensive wifi connection.
- Useful if you don't speak French: 5-star campsites must offer a welcome in 3 foreign languages, including English.
- 24-hour reception and online booking via a website.
