The beaches of the Basque Coast, the Landes and the Arcachon Basin are renowned for their excellent surfing spots, suitable for both beginners and experts. In addition to surfing, sailing, paddleboarding, sea kayaking and kitesurfing offer a variety of thrills. Many clubs and schools offer lessons and equipment hire so you can try out these activities in complete safety.

Leisure activities on rivers and lakes

The rivers of the Dordogne and Charente are perfect for canoeing and kayaking, allowing you to explore wild and peaceful landscapes. The lakes of the Landes, such as Lake Biscarrosse, are ideal for swimming, sailing or paddleboarding with the family.

Hiking and nature walks

With thousands of kilometres of marked trails, the region is a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers. From the coast to the Pyrenees, discover trails for all levels, in forests, valleys or on ridges offering exceptional panoramic views. The GR10, a legendary trail crossing the Pyrenees, is accessible to the most experienced walkers.
